State Energy Office

A Division of the Kansas Corporation Commission, funded through the federal State Energy Program (SEP).

Energy Auditor Training Scholarships

Purpose

Using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), the State Energy Office has established the Efficiency Kansas loan program for energy efficiency improvements in homes and small businesses.

Access to Efficiency Kansas financing requires that each structure receive an energy audit, performed by an energy auditor on the Efficiency Kansas list of qualified auditors. To be placed on the list, auditors must (1) be certified by one of the qualified training institutions listed below and (2) submit the application to be added to the list.

The State Energy Office (SEO) is providing scholarships to Kansas residents who wish to receive training to become energy auditors. Scholarships will cover the full cost of training at one of the approved training institutions listed below. Lodging and other living expenses are not included. Scholarship recipients will be awarded a scholarship certificate to provide to approved training institutions upon enrolling. Training institutions will verify the scholarship with the SEO. Scholarships will be valid for 60 days, from the date the certificate was issued to the recipient.

The State Energy Office will also provide scholarships to attend supplemental training to those with existing certifications from RESNET or the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Applicants should include proof of current certification when filling out the Scholarship Application form.
