- Energy Efficiency Potential Study for the State of Kansas: This study was conducted on behalf of the Kansas Energy Council during 2008.
- Kansas Energy Efficiency Disclosure Form: Kansas law requires the person building or selling new single- or multi-family residences to use this form to disclose information regarding the energy efficiency of the structure.
- Governor Sebelius' 2007 Executive Directive on Energy Conservation and Management: On January 10, 2007, the Governor directed state agencies to implement policies and expand initiatives to use less energy.
- Energy Efficiency Building Codes in Kansas Cities: This overview of the status of energy efficiency building codes was prepared as background information for the Kansas Energy Council in 2007.
- The Facility Conservation Improvement Program (FCIP), administered by the State Energy Office, facilitates the implementation and financing of energy conservation and other improvements in state, municipal, county, and educational facilities. It does this by connecting local units of government and school districts with pre-approved, private energy service companies (ESCOs) that evaluate the facility, identify energy-saving opportunities, and recommend a turn-key package of upgrades to be financed through the projected utility bill savings. - Energy Conservation Education: The KEO has contracted with the Kansas Association of Conservation and Environmental Education to train teachers (preK-12) to educate school children about energy conservation and efficiency. This educational effort will be included as part of the Kansas Green Schools.

Kansas Energy Policy Initiatives
- Kansas Wind Working Group: This working group was created by Governor Sebelius (see Executive Order 08-01) to educate stakeholder groups with current information related to wind energy markets, technologies, economics, policies, prospects, and issues.
- Kansas Energy and Environmental Policy Advisory Group (KEEP): This advisory group was established by Governor Sebelius (see Executive Order 08-03) to identify opportunities for Kansas to develop and recommend an action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across key segments of Kansas economy.
- Kansas Energy Council (dissolved 12-31-2008): The Energy Council was established by Governor Sebelius to develop energy policy recommendations for consideration by the Governor, Legislature, and the Kansas Corporation Commission.
- Joint Committee on Energy and Environmental Policy: This legislative committee was established by K.S.A. 47-3701, as an 11-member bipartisan joint committee to study energy and environmental policy in Kansas; review distribution and transportation of fuels in Kansas; and review electric transmission capacity and make recommendations. - Kansas Wind Working Group: This working group was created by Governor Sebelius (see Executive Order 08-01) to educate stakeholder groups with current information related to wind energy markets, technologies, economics, policies, prospects, and issues.
- Community Wind Toolkit: This tool kit assists local planners in assessing the feasibility of community wind--locally owned, commercial-scale projects.
- Economics of Wind Energy in Kansas: This detailed economic analysis of the benefits and costs of having 1,000 MW of wind energy in Kansas by 2015 was prepared by KCC staff, at the request of Governor Sebelius.
- Incentives for Community Wind in Kansas and Other States: This overview of incentives was prepared on behalf of the Kansas Energy Council in 2007.
- Small Wind Electric Systems: A Kansas Consumer's Guide: This guide, prepared by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy division, helps consumers determine whether a small wind electric system is a cost-effective choice.
- Encouraging Development of Kansas Wind Energy Resources: This background report was prepared on behalf of the Kansas Energy Council in 2006.
- Wind Energy Siting Handbook: This handbook is a compilation of siting guidelines developed in four Kansas counties, prepared on behalf of the Kansas Energy Council in 2005.
- Wind and Prairie Task Force Final Report, June 7, 2004: This task force was created at the request of Governor Sebelius to find a "balance between encouraging economic development of environmentally sensitive energy resources and the protection of the prairie."
