KCC Solicits Energy Achievement Award Nominations
Governor Parkinson to announce winner at Wind and Renewable Energy Conference

Topeka, KS-The State of Kansas is proud to announce the opening of nominations for the 2009 Governor's Energy Achievement Recognition Awards. These awards recognize outstanding leadership and accomplishment in progressive renewable energy and energy efficiency activities and programs.

"I am honored to recognize my fellow Kansans who continue to harness our state's renewable energy capabilities,” said Governor Mark Parkinson. "These awards are a tribute to those who are committed to moving our state forward and building a better, cleaner tomorrow."

Individuals, companies, agencies, programs, and projects are all eligible for nomination by their peers. Award winners will be selected by the State Energy Office Selection Committee based on demonstrated excellence in the following categories:

  • Non-Profit Renewable Energy
  • Non-Profit Energy Efficiency
  • Corporate Renewable Energy
  • Corporate Energy Efficiency

The nomination form is available online at http://www.kcc.state.ks.us/energy/kwrec_09/. Nominations must be submitted by September 30th. Governor Mark Parkinson will announce the winners Wednesday, October 7th at 9:30 a.m. at the Kansas Wind and Renewable Energy Conference.

About the Conference:

The 10th Annual Kansas Wind and Renewable Energy Conference will be held October 6th and 7th at the Ramada Inn in Topeka, KS.

Hosted by the Kansas Corporation Commission and the Kansas Department of Commerce, the conference is an opportunity for state and regional officials and stakeholders to discuss the future of renewable energy in Kansas. Last years conference was attended by more than 750 people from 25 states.
